Those who live in the area will no doubt know that 30% of Palai Pier in Chalong is already complete, and the latest news coming out at the moment, the pier will be in full use for local fishermen in February 2016. With a budget of nearly 20 million THB, Big Land Engineering Co Ltd from Chonburi will have the pier done by early next year.
The pier is located near Palai Seafood Restaurant at the end of Soi Palai and is 4.4 meters in width and will extend 21 meters into the sea.
Project manager, Rewat Kaseampong, said that “The main purpose of the pier is for small boats and fishing boats to tie up here. After construction is finished, responsibility for the pier will be handed over to the Phuket Marine Office to manage.”
The pier is not just for local fishermen, as Phuket Marine Office Chief Phuriphat Teerakulpisut said that, “This pier is being built for all people in the area to use for a variety of purposes. After, the pier is complete, it will be handed over to the local administration organization [Chalong Municipality] to take care of.”
