There was some great news for the region earlier this week, as Phuket Governor, Chamroen Tipayapongtada, predicted that the Andaman Region, which includes Phuket, Krabi, Ranong, Trang and Phang Nga, will generate more than 400 billion baht in revenues this year, which will dwarf last year’s totals.
The Andaman region generated 320 billion in 2013, rising to 360 billion in 2014, said the Phuket Governor via a press release for the 7th Andaman Travel Trade expo.
“For 2015, I expect the income generated to rise by 11 per cent, to more than B400 billion,” he said. “The number of visitors to these provinces rose from 19.3 million in 2013 to 21.5 million in 2014. I expect this number to rise to 25 million for 2015.”
The Andaman Region is arguably the most beautiful part of Thailand, known for its sundrenched beaches, stunning jungle terrain and its picture-postcard vistas of limestone karsts jutting out from crystal clear oceans.
This is great news for the region, especially with high season just around the corner, so let’s hope we can all benefit from the increase in revenues.
