Although you would think football is the most popular participant sport on Phuket Island, one glimpse across the beach in the evening will give you a different opinion. Beach volleyball is a popular pastime in Phuket and a great way to keep fit. If you are a volleyball fan, there is an international tournament being held in Phuket during March, which should be really interesting.
The International Amateur Beach Volley Tournament will be taking place on the 23rd to 27th March at Karon Beach and will feature teams from Asia, Europe, Australia and the Americas, and promises to be real fun for spectators and volleyball enthusiasts.
The classes are Men’s 2×2, Women’s 2×2, and Mixed 4×4 and all level of players are welcome. There will also be a beach party for all participants on the 26th March. There will be lots of local companies sponsoring the event and also a local schools program taking place.
