As we swiftly move through the first month of 2013, there has been some great news from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) who have predicted that tourism will generate a cool 2 trillion baht in revenue over nest 12 months, which would approximately be an 18% of Thailand’s GDP.
TAT are in the midst of launching a new mobile campaign that will also help boost numbers in the tourism industry. Focusing on Thailand’s rich cultural history, the campaign will promote visiting Buddhist temples located in provinces in the central and upper southern regions across the country.
As we can see from the amount of visitors to Phuket during this high season, the tourism industry has not only begun to solidify it’s already popular visitor base, but is also moving forward and improving on numbers year on year.
Looks like we are in for a very healthy 2013, which is great news for local businesses and workers on our beautiful island.
