Although we are now heading into what the industry calls ‘low season’, there is more good news regarding the occupancy rates of Phuket hotels over the Songkran Thai New Year Period in the middle of April.
Two of the nation’s major tourism industry groups, the Thai Hotels Association (THA), and the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) say the current positive climate and political stability are combining together to ensure the Phuket travel industry will still be busy over Thai New Year.
THA noted that Phuket’s advance hotel bookings are almost at full over the Songkran period, whilst Pattaya is at 70% and the Chiang Mai region between 80 and 90%. This means that overall average occupancy during April will be over 70% in Phuket, which is massive for this time of the year.
The two agencies said that the key markets for Phuket were the Chinese, Singaporean, European and local Thai visitors. Every sign concerning the Phuket tourism market at this time is very positive, which has a knock on effect to every part of the island… long may it continue!
