As a follow on story from our blog yesterday about the hotel occupancy rates at full tilt over the Songkran period, Thai Airways have announced that they will be providing more flights to Thailand’s major holiday destinations over the Songkran period to the tune of over 4,800 seats, with Phuket making up the vast majority.
The extra seating capacity will be spread over three routes in Thailand: Bangkok to Phuket; Bangkok to Krabi, and Bangkok to Chiang Mai. Songkran this year is expected to be one of the busiest in recent memory with major celebrations happening all over the country, especially in Thailand’s popular tourist destinations.
The Songkran festivities will take place in Phuket during the 13th and 14th of April, although the water fights can go on up to a week in Chiang Mai and other parts of the country. With the high hotel occupancy stats in Phuket, the island is now winding up towards the Thai New Year and the last big push before the monsoon season is here!
