We always like to promote the virtues of Phuket’s solid infrastructure. Indeed, it’s what sets this island apart from other holiday islands in Thailand, and one of the reasons why the real estate market is so desirable. From excellent roads and shopping centers, to international schools and hospitals, Phuket really does have it all.
This is why news of Phuket’s first underpass beneath the Tainan intersection next to Central Festival is such a good thing. Anybody who drives by this spot will tell you about the rush hour traffic!
Bureau of Bridge Construction, Department of Highways engineer, Itthiwat Kritsanawanich said “In the morning, the traffic is usually jammed heading south, so we will open two lanes of the underpass for the southbound traffic, and one for northbound traffic. In the evening, the traffic is usually busy heading north, so we will open two lanes for the northbound traffic, and one for the southbound.”
The underpass will provide much respite for the island’s inhabitants, especially those living in and around Phuket Town, or for those that like to visit the commercial Park, which is home to Central Festival, HomeWorks, Big C and Tesco Lotus.
