It’s that time of the year again, as Thai New Year, more famously known as Songkran, is set to come splashing to an area near you. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is set to spend approximately 20 million THB on promoting and funding Songkran festivals over the new year period in 13 areas.
The festivals will be staged in Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, Ayutthaya, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Khon Kaen, Bangkok (Wisut Kasat Road and Bang Lamphu), Samut Prakan (Phra Pradaeng), Phuket, Samui, Songkhla (Hat Yai), Pattaya and Suphan Buri.
TAT are trying to attract around 4.4 million tourists over the period with 47 billion THB expected in revenue during Songkran.
