There had been some rumors going around the mill that the Phuket Airport Bus Express service has been running at a loss which could impact the plans to launch a free shuttle bus service, which would be a shame. However, the good news is that Airport Director, Monrudee Gettuphan, is that the plans are still going ahead.
Those of you who live on the island or visit Phuket regularly will know that some of the island transport problems come from the taxis operating out of the airport, which made the Phuket Airport bus express such a must-needed enterprise.
Ms Monrudee said, when speaking to The Phuket News, “We are still looking to go ahead with our plan to introduce free bus shuttle services which will run from Phuket International Airport to Phuket Town, Patong and Karon. However, finer details such as times and exact routes have not yet been set.
“I know that limousine, meter taxi and an existing bus service are already available from the airport, but the free shuttle bus will give visitors to the airport another transport option.”
We can only hope that the free shuttle bus services plans are upheld so all the island’s tourists can benefit from the moment they arrive on the island.
