Great news for holidaymakers and those of us who live in Phuket, as a statement by Phuket Health officials have stated that the long-awaited Chalong Hospital project is finally going to be confirmed with construction starting next year.
With a budget of 105 million THB, this proposed 4-storey building will be located on 10 rai of land that is situated behind the Chalong Police Station, which is close to where the old fresh food market once stood.
The hospital will have 6,230ssqm of space with both in and outpatient facilities. Dr Kajornsak Kaewjarat, the chief of the Phuket Provincial Health Office (PPHO), said about the project, “The Chalong Hospital will take about two years to complete and will help to alleviate the workload on Vachira Hospital (in Phuket Town),” he added. “Some equipment will come from Vachira and we hope to have at least 30 beds for inpatients.”
The hospital will be completed in 2018, so still a bit of time to wait yet, although it’s great news nonetheless.
