Phuket has a great selection of family attractions and activities; indeed, the island’s image has dramatically changed over the past 5 years and moved more towards a premier family holiday destination. So it’s great news that a branch of the popular Tiger Kingdom, born out of Chiang Mai, is set to open in Phuket on 19 June 2013, although that has not yet been confirmed.
The Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai, located just 10km outside the city, has been established since 2008 and has become a massive success with tourists who are looking to observe and pet and pat the tigers at first hand.
The Phuket branch of the Tiger Kingdom will be located on Phrabaramee Road in Kathu, right behind the go kart track. The project will cost approximately 100 million THB.
Although animal rights activists often criticize such projects, which is understandable, the Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai insist that none of their tigers are not drugged or chained.
We are sure there will be some more big announcements about the Phuket branch in the near future, confirming the opening date, prices and opening times, so stay tuned!
