On this website, we always like to boast about how solid Phuket’s infrastructure is compared to other Thailand and Southeast Asian holiday destinations. It’s one of the things that we pride ourselves on this island. There was some great news over the past couple of weeks regarding the upgrade of some of Phuket’s most loved destinations.
Phuket Town, Promthep Cape and Patong Beach have been chosen to receive upgrades, which is part of a 1 billion THB governmental project to improve tourism sites across Thailand.
The acting deputy general director of the project, Anupap Gaesornsuwan, has chosen 29 sites in Thailand after 100 were screened by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
“The improvement project at sites in 18 provinces could cost B1 billion,” he said. “Each site is popular with local and foreign tourists, but improvements are deemed necessary.”
Other destinations in Southern Thailand such as Ao Nang and Koh Phi Phi were also part of the 29 sites chosen to receive an upgrade.
