There are many tourist destinations in Phuket that also make great places to reside. Karon Beach is one such place that brings together all the best of Phuket rolled into one. Karon has a wonderfully long stretch of sand that is, for most of the year, very peaceful, which in contrast to the busy and almost hectic nature of Patong, is very tranquil and alluring.
Places such as Rawai, Surin, Nai Harn, Kamala and Bang Tao are very laidback and are nice places to live or holiday, but there is something about Karon that manages to have a vibrant nightlife scene and scores of international restaurants while still retaining its charm.
Another thing I have noticed about Karon is that its expatriate community is closely knit yet very friendly. It is the ideal place to make new friends. Just go along to Angus O’ Tool’s Irish Pub and within one or two visits you will meet lots of people who live in Karon and you will quickly become acquainted with the locals.
There are also some great sea-view condos and a nice selection of real estate options in Karon, which are ideal investment opportunities because after Patong, Karon Beach is probably the island’s next biggest and most vibrant location, which definitely attracts lots of tourists who you could rent your real estate to, which will bring back some rental returns on your investment.
