There was a rumor circulating this week that Central Festival Phuket was going to expand onto 30 rai of land where the Thainaan Restaurant is currently situated on Wichit Songkhram Road. No sooner had the rumor broke, it was swiftly dismissed by a company spokesperson. Lertwit Bhumipitak, the business development Deputy Managing Director for the Central Group, told the Phuket Gazette this week that they had no plans to expand onto the land.
However, Central did say that they intend on expanding eastwards on Chalermprakiat Road (the bypass road) where you will currently find HomeWorks.
“At the end of the year, we will be developing the HomeWorks site, which will be known as Central Festival Phuket Zone B,” Mr Lertwit said.
“The first floor will contain Power Buy, Tops Market, several restaurants, and fashion and beauty shops, with HomeWorks taking up the second floor.
“It is expected that the new Central Festival zone will be completed around the beginning of 2013,” he added.
Central Festival has always been Phuket’s most up-market and happening shopping complex, and the plans to expand is great news for Phuket residents and holidaymakers.
