There is some real positive news around at the moment regarding Phuket’s tourism influx. With a few weeks still remaining in 2012, the total number of passengers through Phuket International Airport has already surpassed last year’s total of 8.4 million. This is especially good news when you consider that the next few weeks are the airport’s busiest time of the year.
This year’s total is expected to pass the 9 million mark, and considering that arrivals jumped 20% in November on this time last year, all the signs are very favorable.
Bearing in mind the massive influx from the Chinese and Russians, it comes as no surprise that Phuket International Airport desperately needs expanding, as it can only handle 6.5 million arrivals each year in honesty.
It seems all the signs are good for the upcoming high season, as we are now starting to see more people on the streets building up to Christmas and the New Year.
