Over the past couple of years, the landscape of the Phuket tourism scene has been changing and evolving. Asian travelers have become a mainstay of the island’s holidaymakers with Koreans, Japanese and Chinese visiting the island more than ever before.
The Chinese market has the potential to be extremely lucrative over the next decade, so it’s great news that Jet Asia Airways have just announced that four new flights per week between Phuket and Beijing International Airport will commence in January 2013.
The flights are non-stop will be onboard a Boeing 767-200ER, which will have 235 economy seating.
Captain John Ross, who is Jet Asia Air’s President of Flight Operations said, ”We are proud to service Beijing with a direct flight to Phuket. The passenger traffic from China into Thailand has grown nearly 45 percent year on year for the past three years and we are excited to contribute to this growth.”
As the run up to high season continues, this is great news for the start of 2013, which promises to be another year of growth for tourism not only in Phuket, but in Thailand as a whole.
