As the Thailand tourism sector has recently gone through some bad times due to the political problems in Bangkok, it is now in full recovery mode and looking to swiftly return its reputation as one of the best holiday destinations in the world. The nation’s NCPO is looking to make things a little easier for the Chinese by creating a visa free initiative for those travelling to Thailand from China and Taiwan.
The move is aimed at boosting tourism, as June was a hard month for the tourism market. The new initiative will start off with a three-month trial from August to October.
Once the waiver has expired, the NCPO will review and analyze the results and decide whether an extension will be made. Thailand is seeking to make up for the lost tourism time over the past 4 months, moving forward and looking at the best way to attract holidaymakers back to the nation, and no doubt that targeting the Chinese market is a step in the right direction.
