Yes, Phuket is open for business! Thursday 1st July is the date the TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) has marked as the day they will allow tourist onto Phuket without any quarantine.
Yes, there are a few buts; but you must provide a negative PCR test for COVID-19 no more than 72 hours prior to flying.
But, you have to provide proof of full vaccination, but no details on how this will work just yet.
But, you must stay within the Kingdom for no less than 7 days.
“Tourists will be required to spend the first seven days on the island, before travelling to other Thai destinations.”
Should you wish to leave Phuket and go to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Phang Nga etc tourists will not be allowed to do this until October sometime. The media release doesn’t specify any of the paperwork or travel restrictions that may still be imposed on international travellers to the 6 targeted areas.
Proving that Phuket is open for business, the TAT says that authorities continue to work on vaccination programs on the island “to safely achieve herd immunity against Covid-19 for 70% of Phuket’s population, including residents, workers in tourism-related businesses, and migrant workers.”
